Oct 6, 2020 · 10-10-2020, 06:37 PM. I have played the Gravity Storms which are basically the Dark Matter pickups but without the pickups covers, they are pretty cool. I would describe them as very "clean" sounding and articulate pickups. Not a lot of extra frequencies in them, just straight ahead rock pickups that have pretty warm highs and good lows.
The DiMarzio AT-1™ was originally designed for a 25 ½” scale, mahogany-body guitar, but it adapts very well to other instruments. It has enough bass and mids to warm up brighter guitars, and enough clarity for 24 ½” scale set-necks as well.
Mar 11, 2024 · DiMarzio The Super D, Tone Zone, Breed, and PAF Master are all favorites, depending on the guitar. I do prefer Duncan's STK noiseless, but the Areas and Injectors are fine. I've never tried a Duncan true single coil, but the DiMarzio True Velvets are great sounding pickups, and the FS-1 is my favorite true single for a Strat bridge position.

Some pickups do not sound great for some applications. In very general terms, I would put Gibson at the bottom of that list in quality of pickups.
