This is correct. In the USA (where Brimley originally gained fame) most Americans pronounce Diabetes as "Die-uh-bee-tees" where 'tees' is said as long (if not longer) as the 'bee' portion. Since Brimley says "Die-uh-bee-tus" which was a more peculiar and colloquial pronunciation of the word.
