   How did Telegraph Cove start?

   • Telegraph Cove started life as a one-room telegraph station in 1912 for a telegraph line from Campbell River up to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. It then became a salmon cannery and a sawmill. A number of timber homes and buildings were erected on stilts over the water, winched onto the heavily treed shoreline and connected by wood boardwalks.
