Sy Bartlett was a writer-producer at Twentieth Century Fox studios and a co-author of the novel and film 12 O’Clock High, based on his own experiences as an Eighth Air Force officer in World War II. The film starred Gary Cooper as Brig. Gen. Frank Savage, a fictional character inspired by the real-life commander of the 306th Bombardment Group, nicknamed “The Reich Wreckers.”
