At his graduation performance Adam took the lead role of Young Man in Ashton's Two Pigeons at the Royal Opera House. In September 1989 Adam joined the Royal Ballet Company. He rose quickly through the ranks, being promoted to First Artist and Soloist in 1991, First Soloist 1993 and being made Principal Dancer in 1994.
