David Steinberg CM (born August 9, 1942) is a Canadian comedian, actor, writer, director, and author. At the height of his popularity, during the late 1960s and mid 1970s, he was one of the best-known comics in the United States.
David Steinberg is a Canadian-born comedian who performed on The Tonight Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He also directed and wrote for TV shows and movies, and won two Emmys for his Oscar telecasts.

A legendary comedian of the 60’s through the 80’s, David is now regarded as one of the best and most creative directors working in television today. He has directed numerous episodes of Friends , Seinfeld , Mad About You , Newhart and Designing Women, which he also executive produced.
