Barry (25 April 1932 - 15 August 1990) appeared as Mr. Compton, Janet's boss at the flower shop on Three's Company for two episodes early on in the series' run, first in the second season episode titled "Janet's Promotion", then in the season three episode titled "Jack in the Flower Shop".

    A veteran character actor who made his first Hollywood acting appearance in a guest role on NBC's Rowan and Martin's Laugh:In in 1970, the versatile actor and entertainer appeared in numerous guest spots on numerous successful TV series in both dramatic and comedic parts, appearing in such popular TV series such as The Bob Newhart Show, Harper Valley, P.T.A., Happy Days, Bosom Buddies, Barney Miller, Webster, Night Court, and Knots Landing.

    J.J. also made appearances in several films, such as Mel Brooks directed History of the World, Part I (1981), Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling which starred Richard Pryor (1986), This Is Spinal Tap (1984), and Moving (1988), where he appeared opposite Pryor, who was the film's star, once more. His last appearance was as Mr. Sludge in the PBS-TV children's educational program Mathnet in 1990.
