In 1934 he had a novelty hit record with "Inka Dinka Doo" and appeared on Broadway in the musical "Jumbo". On film he was paired with Buster Keaton for a number of Hollywood films. In 1943 he teamed up with Garry Moore for "The Durante-Moore Show" on radio.
