You have to remember this was late 1948. He said “I’ll pay you five pounds for the gig, plus I’ll pick you up, take you to the job. bring you back home, and provide a meal.” On the Sunday he picked me up and drove me to Birmingham. We were a support group to the Harry Parry Sextet.
