Arthur Lowe (1915-1982) was a British actor who appeared in films, TV shows and stage plays. He is best known for his role as Captain Mainwaring in the classic sitcom Dad's Army (1968-1977), and also won a BAFTA Award for his performance in O Lucky Man! (1973).
