Rideau Hall is a 3.5-kilometre walk from Parliament Hill along scenic Sussex Drive. There are three visitor entrance gates through which you may enter the grounds: Sussex Drive, Thomas Gate or MacKay street.
Rideau Hall (officially Government House) is the official residence in Ottawa of both the governor general of Canada and the Canadian monarch. It stands in Canada's capital on a 36-hectare (88-acre) estate at 1 Sussex Drive, with the main building consisting of approximately 175 rooms across 9,500 square metres (102,000 sq ft), and 27 outbuildings around the grounds.
May 2, 2010 · Rideau Hall, Ottawa, is the official residence of the Governor General. The estate was created in 1838 by Thomas McKay (1792-1855), industrialist and lumberman, who upon his death left a property of 1000 acres in what is now the greater Ottawa area.
