The Trapp Family (also known as the von Trapp Family) was a singing group formed from the family of former Austrian naval commander Georg von Trapp. The family achieved fame in their original singing career in their native Austria during the interwar period.

The Trapp Family. Maria Kutschera actually came to the Trapp family as a governess to supprt the Baron von Trapp with his children. After the two fell in love, they married on November 26, 1927. Two more daughters were born and the von Trapps were content with their lifes. In 1935, Father Wasner entered their lives.
Trapp Family, Austrian singers whose story was made into a popular Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical, The Sound of Music (1959), that proved one of the most successful in theatre history. Their story was also the basis for a film starring Julie Andrews (1965) that had a comparable success.
