Cheerful Cockney Bert Gibbs is promoted to the peerage and becomes Lord Thornton Heath. But then he meets up with Russian movie star Ilya Myona and when his mother asks about her Bert implies they are engaged. After some adventures with some dubious Russian types Bert's girl Lenina eventually wins him back.
Things are complicated by a pair of anarchic Bolsheviks, one of whom has a daughter named Lenina who knows Bert from his plumber days and is quite in love with him.
