Teriyaki is broiled or brown ingredients, marinated in soy sauce, sake, and sugar. The word, teriyaki is a combination of two Japanese words "teri" and "yaki." Teri means luster, and yaki means grilled or brown. As the name suggests, the sauce must be glossy not opaque. To do this, cook the sauce which includes sugar for a while on high heat. This tip makes delicious sauce. Today, we use teriyaki for Donburi, pizza, and hamburger. Actually McDonald’s Teriyaki hamburgers are really popular in Japan. I recommend it for foreign friends every time they visit Japan. It’s yummy!! I’m going to show you my favorite finger food “teriyaki chicken tart” which is good for brunch and entertaining.
