Film, video, writing, and performance all intersect and seep together in her work. She is currently researching the embodied possibilities of the moving image — in relation to cosmic consciousness, ecology, sacred sites, and a time before/after patriarchy.
Here the fragmented images are all that exists of a film which begins at the end of the selkie myth, taking place after the seal mother has left her human children behind and returned to the underwater realm.
These are two images from an article in the New York Times on the ‘Ghost Forests’ that are emerging on the eastern shore of the US, near where I grew up in Maryland. It was taken by a photographer named Gabriella Demczuk, who also used sea water she collected at each site to make salt prints.
