- The Old Course. 📌 St Andrews KY16 9SP. 💷 Green fees from £135. This is probably the main reason most of you will go to St Andrews. If you’re only visiting St Andrews once, there’s no way around it – you have to play The Old Course.
- The New Course. 📌 2 West Sands, St Andrews KY16 9XL. 💷 Green fees from £60. Probably the oldest New Course, The New Course at St Andrews offers a familiar classic links test but without the noise or history of the Old.
- The Jubilee. 📌 1 W Sands Rd, St Andrews KY16 9XL. 💷 Green fees from £60. Built just a couple of years after the New Course, The Jubilee Course at St Andrews was originally constructed for ladies and beginners.
- The Castle Course. 📌 St Andrews KY16 8PL. 💷 Green fees from £70. The baby of the St Andrews Links courses, The Castle Course only recently opened in 2008 making up the 7th course offered by the Home of Golf and the largest golf complex in Europe.
- It has the widest opening-hole fairway in the world: Forgiving, sure, but all that more embarrassing when you miss it either over the fence on the right or through the 18th fairway into the road left (ala Ian Baker-Finch in the 1995 Open Championship).
- It's open to everyone: The Old Course has a daily lottery accounting for half of its daily tee sheet, open to anyone willing to pay the £130 (peak season) to play.
- Double greens: Fourteen double-greens, each of which add up to the sum of 18. It makes the course seem so organized and mathematical, even when you're navigating over other groups on the "loop" from No. 8-11.
- Student rates: Residents of St. Andrews, including students at the university here, can play each of the Links Trust courses all year for the low annual sum of about £140.
- St. Andrews - Old Course. Location: St. Andrews, Scotland. Course founded: Unknown. Memorable major moment: The Tiger Slam. Tiger Woods won the second of the four consecutive majors comprising his Tiger Slam by dominating the field, winning the tournament by eight strokes.
- Royal Dornoch - Championship Course. Location: Dornoch, Scotland. Course founded: 1877. What you need to know: Golf has been played in Dornoch since early in the 17th century.
- Muirfield. Location: Gullane, Scotland. Course founded: 1892. Memorable major moment: Phil Mickelson’s furious comeback. Just shy of his 50th birthday, Miguel Angel Jimenez led the tournament after 36 holes.
- Trump Turnberry Resort - Ailsa. Location: Turnberry, Scotland. Course founded: 1901. Memorable major moment: The Duel in the Sun. 1977’s fight to the finish between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus is still considered one of the best final rounds in major history.
