- Burn. The quirks come immediately at The Old Course: golfers must negotiate an incredibly wide fairway followed by the property's only water feature on the first hole.
- Dyke. The 2nd hole at The Old Course introduces golfers to the rumpled dunescape over which the following 16 holes unfold. Par 4, 452 yards.
- Cartgate (Out) A diagonal ridge can kick errant golf balls towards the Cartgate bunker on the 3rd hole at The Old Course. Par 4, 398 yards.
