  4. Aug 2, 2022 · The ambiguous ending of the movie is just a glimpse of how much Wakefield has changed and how much he hasn’t. His family’s reaction doesn’t matter anymore. The ending simply shows that, in retrospect, for Howard, all these years barely seemed a little more than a week.
