James Todd Smith (born January 14, 1968), known professionally as LL Cool J (short for Ladies Love Cool James), is an American rapper and actor. He is one of the earliest rappers to achieve commercial success, alongside fellow new school hip hop acts Beastie Boys and Run-DMC.

- Mama Said Knock You Out (1990) LL Cool J made one of the greatest comebacks in hip-hop history with Mama Said Knock You Out. After critics panned Walking With a Panther, the Queens rapper got his groove back thanks to legendary producer Marley Marl who delivered some stellar head bangers on the LP.
- Radio (1985) In 1985, LL Cool J released a true B-boy document with Radio. On the collection, the Queens rapper extols his rap dominance with his braggadocious rhymes on “I Need a Beat,” "I Can’t Live Without My Radio” and the classic “Rock the Bells.”
- Bigger and Deffer (1987) Although Radio was a great introduction to the 17-year-old rapper from Queens, N.Y., it was his second album, Bigger and Deffer, that officially made him a rap superstar.
