FILM 100: Intro to Film and Media Studies. Intro to Film is a course designed to introduce you to the language, theory and aesthetics of film. During this course, we will focus on thinking critically and writing intelligently about film.

• Academic Regulation 5.2 states that the course outline must include all elements that will contribute to the cumulative grade earned and the approximate grade breakdown for the course. The elements and grade breakdown may initially be approximate, but are normally confirmed no later than the last day of registration for the term.
The course will also briefly introduce students to critical categories in film study such as authors, stars, and genres. Each week, we will examine narrative forms, elements of style, and critical issues in relation to a variety of exemplary film texts.

Sep 6, 2022 · The course objective is to provide you with tools to look beyond the surface of a film by identifying the component parts. This enables you to become familiar with the creative format of movies and to better understand how movies persuade while entertaining their audiences.
