I’ve only seen the regular ending once. the other 14 times I’ve watched the show, I’ve watched the alternate ending. It’s not necessarily a happier ending, but it ends the show in a more hopeful way and leaves things open. Tracy could still die, Ted could still go back to Robin, but we don’t need to know that.
