Ruth A. Sobotka (September 4, 1925 – June 17, 1967) was an Austrian-born American dancer, costume designer, art director, painter, and actress. She was the second wife of film director Stanley Kubrick.
Ruth Sobotka met Stanley Kubrick in late 1952, during the production of FEAR AND DESIRE. He moved into her apartment in east Greenwich Village shortly after, and became good friends with her colleague, former roommate, and friend David Vaughan. Kubrick and Sobotka were married on January 15, 1955, in Albany, New York.
