Iphigenia in Aulis was produced, together with the Bacchae and the Alcmaeon, at the Great Dionysia in March, 405 B.C., a few months after Euripides' death. It seems probable that Euripides' son (some say his nephew) produced the play and perhaps filled in parts of the script which Euripides had left incomplete at the time ofhis death.
Iphigenia at Aulis is a tragedy centering on an army general who is deciding whether to sacrifice his daughter to a goddess in order to gain favorable winds for a sea voyage to Troy. First Performance ....... The play debuted in Athens in 405 BC, a year after the author's death.
