Yelagin Island (Russian: Елагин остров) is a park island at the mouth of the Neva River which is part of St. Petersburg, Russia. Yelagin Island is home to the Yelagin Palace but has a few other buildings as well.
Known as Mustila in Finnish, Yelagin Island, the smallest of the Kirov Islands in the northern part of the Neva delta, was inhabited by a colony of fisherman long before the founding of St. Petersburg.
Yelagin Island is a unique protected natural complex. It is the northernmost island in the Neva delta, laved with Big Nevka in the north, with Central Nevka in the south and south-east, and shooting out with the narrow cape into the Gulf of Finland.
Yelagin Island is an ideal place to spend time if you want some nature in the city. Its a beautiful park with numerous alleys, grass fields to lay down, small lake and opportunity to feed the birds and squirrels.
