  2. Sep 21, 2000 · You will definitely need to get a TDIF card to record 8 separate channels on your computer. I'd suggest getting the new soundcard from tascam, the PCI-822 ($300). I believe it has 1 TDIF I/O, 2 S/PDIF ports, 2X2 midi, and a wordclock I/O.

  4. The Tascam PCI822 card has: S/PDIF coaxial in and out. TDIF in and out (TDIF cables are bi-directional) BNC Word Clock out. 2 MIDI ports in and out

It includes a TASCAM 8-channel TDIF interface for DTRS recorders and compatible equipment, a stereo S/PDIF interface for DAT recorders and CD players, and 32 channels of MIDI I/O for keyboards, synth modules and mixer automation. The PCI-822 supports 16-, 20- and 24-bit audio as well as 44.1 and 48kHz sampling rates.

  6. The digital I/O routing is configured such that the first TDIF port accesses multitrack busses 1-4, direct outs 1-4, or auxes 1-4; the second TDIF port provides busses 5-8, direct outs 5-8 or auxes 1-4; and the third TDIF port can be switched between either of these two configurations, as required.
