Sep 11, 2009 · U of T’s program breadth also offers students distinct advantages. Our undergraduates can study a huge range of subjects – more than at any other university in Canada. In all, U of T undergrads can mix and match courses from about 600 programs, from aboriginal to women’s studies.
- Hollywood 2.0. Toronto as a city is actually known as the Northern Hollywood with so many movies and shows being filmed there and many of those films use the stunning University of Toronto campus to replicate US Ivy league schools.
- Colleges. The University of Toronto has a student population of epic proportion at 70,000. Boom. So to make it easier for first year students to meet people, the school is broken down into seven different colleges or ‘houses’.
- Multicultural. Toronto is the most multicultural city in the world and that definitely translates into the University of Toronto. You’re bound to have at least a few international students on your first year floor, maybe from Madagascar, maybe Taiwan, maybe even Timbuktu, who knows!
- Robarts Library. Robarts is the giant, concrete library that ominously looks over the University of Toronto campus. Oh, and it’s in the shape of a turkey..
- Academic Programs. The University of Toronto is well known for it’s high leveled academics. When I began narrowing down my choice, it was a big deal for me to be attending a school with high regard for academics.
- Reputation. The University of Toronto’s reputation is another huge reason why attending here was my top priority. Even though, people may tell you that other schools have great programs as well and the education is not that much different, it’s the school’s name that sets you apart of the rest.
- Location. Location was a huge thing for me. I had my choices to go to the states or Western or McGill but I chose U of T. Being in Toronto was a huge grab for me.
- Networking & Connections. In your university career, you are suppose to apply yourself and build up yourself. The University of Toronto opens up so many doors, we do not even realize.
