Feb 17, 2023 · Lots of scam standalone sites are out there too - guides about how to scam that way are on the rise as well. Luckily, Etsy does have really good buyer protection. It's easy to get a refund if you do buy from a scam shop. Make sure to leave a negative review before opening a case for a refund!

In my experience of selling ~1,000 items over the course of three years, I’ve only had people attempt to scam me three times.
These messages are fairly rare and usually only used to introduce new features, but if one does come from Etsy through messages, it'll have a special badge (not just the profile picture of the Etsy logo) and be in a special "from Etsy" tab in your inbox. Click the scam guide linked at the beginning to see an example image.
ETSY SCAM- BEWARE - ETSY HELPER- WARNING!!!! I received a message from Etsy about my most recent item and then was told my account was suspended while they were verifying my card on file. Not unusual as Etsy does this. All I had to do was verify my card on file. Next thing you know these foreign scammers began taking sums of money from my account.
Aug 10, 2023 · You'll often find that these messages quickly disappear from your inbox or you become unable to reply. That's Etsy blocking the scammer's account. Etsy has put filters in place to prevent scammers from using the word "email" in messages so you'll often find creative spellings like "emeil" or "e//mail" or "em-ail."

I just got the same message, and after like 8 min a got a message from "etsy support" saying: 🎉 Cоngratulations!
