Nov 29, 2010 · Hans Waldmann (1435 – 6 April 1489) was mayor of Zurich and Swiss military leader. The equestrian monument in front of the Fraumünster (Waldmann monument) was unveiled on 6 April 1937 by the Kämbel guild, aiming to rehabilitate Waldmann who they proposed had been the victim of a judicial murder.
Located in Münsterhof plaza, on Lake Zurich side of the western approach to Münsterbrücke across from Fraumünster stands this equestrian statue atop a most imposing pedestal. On the side of the pedestal is inscribed his name, jobs (commander and statesman) and year of his death (1489).
