UWC-USA (legally named the Armand Hammer United World College of the American West) is a United World College school in San Miguel County, New Mexico, United States. It was founded in 1982 by businessman Armand Hammer.
1981: The Castle is bought by industrialist and philanthropist Armand Hammer as the site of the new campus of the Armand Hammer United World College of the American West, now known as UWC‑USA.
UWC-USA faculty are driven, kind, and intelligent mentors and leaders who focus intensely on helping students succeed and grow. They come from many different countries but are united in their passion for teaching and their support of the UWC mission.
The building sat vacant until Armand Hammer acquired in 1981 for the United World College. Lacking resources, the United World College left the building in an increasing state of disrepair until it could raise funds for a comprehensive restoration in 1999–2002.
