When justice takes into account the race of the defendant or of the victim it is no longer justice but discrimination, positive for some and negative for the others, and this fake shape of so-called justice creates resentment and unbalance and more violence and crime.
Review by Scott Martin ★★★★½. A prescient legal drama that takes the Crash route before Crash by having characterizations speak broadly about themes. It serves as theatrical here, as it does in Crash. Deft subtext pivots to on-the-nose buttons of declaration.
A Showtime TV movie that brings up some complex ideas without offering up any concrete solutions. Honestly, the argument that the defendants' skin colour should in any way stand as an excuse for the manslaughter of an innocent woman is a tough one to swallow...in the circumstances depicted, murder is murder no matter which way you slice it.
