   • Additives (gum removers, fuel system and injector cleaners) are not recommended. In theory, 93 will resist knocking (ping) more than 91. So the factory tuning will take advantage of the octane to the limits of knock. But ethanol has less "power" than gas by volume... Not sure how this plays with the factory tune.

   Is 91 octane ethanol free?

   • In Canada your 91 is our 87, your 95 is 89 to 90 and your 98 to 100 is 91 to 94 octane here. We have 87 with 10 percent ethanol, 89 to 90, also with 10% and Premium for the most part is ethanol free, mostly 91, some 94 has 10% but pretty much all Premium including the Coop, which I drive fuel truck for is 91, non ethanol.

   What octane fuel should I use?

   • Either octane fuel you listed is fine as long as it is Top Tier. actually most computers will back off timing for poor fuel but dont add in timing for higher then recomended octane. If your car is tuned for 91 you might even see less performance with 93 do to the fact its harder to ignite and burns cooler.

   Is 91 octane enough?

   • For normal driving 91 octane should be adequate. The ECU will monitor for knock and retard the timing to protect the engine if knock occurs. Each car is different and gasoline quality varies from one area to another so if you are making trips to Mexico you may want to log data and monitor for KR then assess your fuel needs.
