  1. Jul 12, 2012 · If I can do that for a car, then why not do it for a boat engine that costs as much as a whole car does and that your life quite literally could be dependent on. Yeah, I'll pay for the good stuff and work hard to find somewhere that sells Non-Ethanol fuel.

  2. Jan 6, 2012 · Re: What octane gas is best to use for a two stroke outboard motor. 4. It simplifies boat operation while improving engine performance and decreasing fuel costs. Active Trim is compatible with all current SmartCraft-capable Mercury outboards (2004 and newer, 40hp and above; 2022 and newer, 25hp and above).

  5. Oct 9, 2010 · Running low octane fuel in an outboard that is set for high octane would result in engine damage if the ECU was unable to detect detonation. All the new outboards I've seen come from the factory with 87 octane fuel requirements.

  6. Oct 19, 2023 · One of the notable features of the BF350 is its fuel efficiency—while several 350 hp engines necessitate 91 octane, this engine efficiently operates on just 86 octane, providing a more economical option for owners at fuel stations.
