If I only planned to have the truck for 5 years or didn't have the extra dough to spend on gas I would definitely roll with 87 octane.

  8. May 4, 2007 · It seems that 87 is adequate and will work just fine but a higher octane fuel, whether it is 89/91/93 or E85 is producing better results. Luckily for me, E85 is readily available and currently $0.70 - $0.80 cheaper than 91/93. The following questions/assumptions are currently unanswered.
