We wear the word Veritas (Truth) on our school blazers in memory of St Thomas Aquinas. He lived a life of prayer and study which led him to the Dominican Order, whose motto is “Veritas” or “Truth”.
Help us to build on the best traditions we have inherited. Our school has its foundations in two schools built on our current site in 1961. St Thomas Aquinas Grammar for boys and St John Bosco served the families of north Leeds and in 1978 they merged and the school was renamed in honour of Cardinal Heenan.
Our school motto, 'Respect, Believe and Achieve,' echoes the words of Cardinal Hume. We take pride in challenging our students to reach their full potential in every area of their lives, and at the root of all of this lies the firm foundation of the Catholic faith.
At Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School our motto is Respect Believe Achieve. We are fully committed to the belief that the mutual Respect of our wonderful staff and students drives us all to Believe in what we do and therefore Achieve our very best.
The Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School is an 11–18 boys comprehensive school and sixth form for boys located in West Derby, Liverpool, England. As of September 2021, a total of 1,389 boys were enrolled at the Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School.
Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School is part of the Diocese of Leeds. It is named in honour of Cardinal John Carmel Heenan, a former Bishop of Leeds, Archbishop of Liverpool and Archbishop of Westminster. It is situated around four miles north of Leeds city centre, just south of the Leeds Outer Ring Road.
