Martin started his career as a writer for the television series Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour from 1968 to 1969. He has since portrayed numerous roles on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour (1971–1972), Saturday Night Live (1976–2022), and The Muppet Show (1977).
Biography. Born in 1945 in Waco, Texas, Martin moved with his family to Los Angeles in 1950, eventually ending up in Garden Grove. At age 10, the naturally outgoing Martin got weekend and summer work hawking guidebooks at Disneyland, and as a teenager, manning the Fantasyland magic shop.
