The wives are dead, corpsed, finito, no longer extant--I don’t know how it’s possible to not get that, but both the ill-starred 2004 Frank Oz remake and this even more misbegotten 1980 TV movie sequel “Revenge of the Stepford Wives” screw it up. Is this a common problem that I don’t know about?
As a sequel to The Stepford Wives, this is a disappointment. The rules around the Stepford wives are all different (but only if you're paying attention, I suppose). No one from the original movie returns, so the stakes feel lessened. And there just isn't as much spookiness or surreal threats in this movie.
