Uhrovec (Hungarian: Zayugróc) is a village and municipality in the Bánovce nad Bebravou District of the Trenčín Region of Slovakia.
Uhrovec was founded at the beginning of the second half of the 13th century as a refuge in the event of another Mongol invasion. Hence its location – among the mountains, away from cities and trade routes. The castle was built with the consent of king Bela IV, by Trenčín zupan Baš.
