The Clermont State Historic Site, also known as the Clermont estate, the Clermont Manor or just Clermont, is a New York State Historic Site in southwestern Columbia County, New York, United States. It protects the former estate of the Livingston family, seven generations of whom lived on the site over more than two centuries.

  3. The original Clermont mansion was built around 1740 and burned to the ground in 1777, as punishment for supporting the rebels during the American Revolution. Martha Livingston rebuilt the home during the Revolution. Her son, the home’s most famous resident, was Robert R. Livingston, Jr., Founding Father of the United States.

  4. Today, Clermont appears much as it did in the early 20th century, when it was the home of the property's last two generations. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973. Along with the home and four gardens, the site contains a visitor’s center and gift shop. Both the home and gardens offer lovely views of the Hudson River.
