The Buildings and Grounds Department is responsible for school safety, school maintenance and operation, and, in conjunction with the Town Council, capital improvement of school facilities totaling over 900,000 sq. ft. of building space and housing 7,000 adults and students.
With these new busts, the Schoolroom—at the front of Groton’s central academic building, the 1899 Schoolhouse—now better reflects world history, the school’s commitment to inclusion, and the composition of Groton’s student body today.
After completion of a master plan for the Groton School, a private secondary school, which included both expansion of the schools central facility, the schoolhouse, and a proposed new theater complex, KMW was commissioned to expand and renovate the historic schoolhouse.
