It is the city's largest public park and is the second most visited city park in the United States, behind Central Park in New York City. It includes two museums, a zoo, parkland, recreational areas, a nature preserve, bird refuges, beaches, a golf course and harbors.

Sep 7, 2017 · Shortly after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln (1809-65), 16th President of the United States, the park was renamed in his honor. The City allocated $10,000 for improvements, and nurseryman Swain Nelson created and implemented the park's first plan.
Restoring Lincoln Park's Art, Architecture, And nature since 1984. The Lincoln Park Conservancy is an independent, 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to preserve and enhance the inspiring beauty of Chicago’s largest and most visited park for current and future generations.
It is located directly east of the United States Capitol Building at East Capitol and 11th Streets in the Northeastern quadrant of the City. The open space that is now Lincoln Park was part of Pierre L'Enfant's original 1791 plan for the District of Columbia and was intended for public use.
