Sheila Grace Young-Ochowicz (born October 14, 1950) is a retired American speed skater and track cyclist. She won three world titles in each of these sports, twice in the same year (in 1973 and 1976). In 1976, she also became the first American athlete to win three medals at one Winter Olympics.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, American Sheila Young was a dominant force in two sports — speed skating and cycling — though she did not receive much recognition for her accomplishments in the United States. She won world championships in both sports in 1973 and 1976.
Roger Young was a good all-around cyclist who raced on the track and road, but was best known as a track sprinter. He was US Champion in the match sprint in 1973, placed second in 1974 and 1979, and was third in 1972 and 1978. Young won a gold medal in team pursuit at the 1975 Pan American Games.
In 1976, Sheila Young won three Olympic speedskating medals at the 1976 Winter Olympics, including a gold medal in the 500 m. She later married cyclist and future directeur sportif Jim Ochowicz. Their daughter Elli later also became a speed skater.

At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Young found the gold medal in speedskating which had until then eluded her. She became the first American in history to bring home three medals in the Winter games—gold in the 500-meter race; silver in the 1,500-meter, and bronze in the 1,000-meter.
Young’s set of speed skating medals made her the sensation of the Games, as she became the first American athlete to win three honours at a single Winter Olympics.
