The Young Mr. Pitt is a 1942 British biographical film of the life of William Pitt the Younger and in particular his struggle against revolutionary France and Napoleon. It was directed by Carol Reed and stars Robert Donat, Robert Morley, Phyllis Calvert and John Mills.
The film is based on the life of William Pitt, the Younger (1759-1806), who, at the age of twenty-four, became England's youngest prime minister. He held office from 1783 to 1801 and from 1804 to 1806. In 1938, Harry Piel directed and starred in a German film about Pitt's life entitled Der unmögliche Herr Pitt.
