  8. The third effort was a 1965 mini-series by the BBC – done in four 45-minute episodes. I think that was the first effort by the BBC to film Eliot novels. This rendition is the 1978-79 mini-series that aired in eight segments. I don't know that any of the earlier films are on DVD, but this has to be the best version of "Mill on the Floss."
