Hepburn's confident patrician manner and upper-class accent were well-suited to those characters, but it was the role of aspiring actress Eva Lovelace in her third film, Morning Glory (1933), that was most like the young Hepburn of that era. Her performance won Hepburn her first of four Academy Awards as Best Actress.
1933 was a decisive year for Hepburn with strong roles in three films, the other two being Christopher Strong (1933) and Little Women (1933). Morning Glory allows Hepburn to flaunt her theatrical credentials in a scene in which she plays both Hamlet and Juliet (a rare treat for any actor) but the mundanity of the plot and mediocrity of the script prevent her from showing her true talents.

Morning Glory is a 1933 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Lowell Sherman and starring Katharine Hepburn, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and Adolphe Menjou. The film was based on the play of the same name by Zoë Akins, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1931.
