IIRC this was a mid '60s or mid'70s concept that came out about the time the Pontiac "Banshee" was shown and IIRC some of the ideas for that showed-up in the Firebird.

Love seeing all the different combos that show up. If my 65 Falcon Gasser ever gets out of Chassis Prison I hope to do Sick Things with it.

If the vac reg is mounted to the pump, the volume of air being pulled through the engine will only be whats needed to reach the vacuum setting,so less oil will be pulled from the motor. If the reg is on the engine, the entire volume of air the pump pulls will be be going through the motor.
