   • James I. granted a weekly market at Enfield, (on Saturdays,) the profits of which were appropriated to the poor of the town. His charter gives the trustees power to build a market-house. The market has been discontinued several years. Two fairs are still held annually; one on St. Andrew's-day, the other on the 23d of September.
