Current GST/HST mess from Etsy aside, anyone with a GST registration number are required collect either GST or HST, which is solely dependent on the buyer's location.**. So if you are in Ontario and sell to Alberta, you charge 5% GST.

Jun 11, 2021 · On Etsy this shows up as “standard shipping” to potential buyers. Another possibility is chit chats. They charge lower than Canada post for tracked shipping, but I’ve NEVER seen tracked shipping in Canada for under $5, so if you’re seeing $1-$5 items with free shipping, it’s either a mistake or lettermail shipping($1-$5 stamp, weight dependent).

Dec 31, 2022 · I am a new seller on Etsy and I am just creating my shop. I have inputted all the information correctly even Etsy confirmed the credit card information to be correct, I have also cleared by cache and cookies but the set up billing page will not save and continue. I have also used different browsers and devices all to no avail. I am from Canada.
Jun 30, 2022 · Etsy is making things much more complicated for those who are registered to collect sales tax in Canada. The new way is to get us to include tax to our local prices now, and they're getting rid of their sales tax tool. I collect different taxes depending on the province/territory I mail to. So I would need to overcharge customers on tax now ...
Nov 25, 2021 · Etsy collects the VAT from the customer, then is suppose to transfer the VAT collected to the EU and the IOSS for Etsy identifies that has been done by them. Etsy is suppose to transfer that info to Canada Post electronically so that when the packages hit the border it's registered and those countries don't charge the customer VAT again and a processing fee.
Aug 16, 2021 · Does anyone know how I can put the $35.00 Free Shipping into effect for orders over $35.00 for Canada only? I can not find anything on it at all and I can't figure it out at all. Thank you for any help. Debbie.

Although I am the first to admit, that sometimes our postal service is slow, it may not be an issue with Canada Post, but more Customs. If the order is over $20 CAD, we are subject to taxes and a Canada Post handling charge.
