Jun 9, 2024 · For those of us considering a dyno tune, we weigh the cost against the performance benefits. The expense can be significant, but the personalized adjustments to our vehicle’s ECU could transform its driving dynamics.
Jun 26, 2024 · Top Tier gasoline is worth the extra cost to consumers, according to a study by AAA. Consumer Reports lists car brands that recommend Top Tier gasoline and gas stations where you can buy Top Tier...
Jun 9, 2024 · For engines with higher compression ratios or those that are turbocharged, high octane fuels such as 93 are preferable to 92 octane because they handle the increased pressure better, leading to smoother engine operation and potentially more power.
98 octane is 98 octane, same detonation resistance. There can be additives that reduce the likelihood of detonation, but if they add that, there's going to be less of the better stuff in the fuel, like less "real" octane. The octane rating isn't the amount of octane, it's how close it behaves to iso-octane.
Jun 10, 2024 · Mixing different octane levels of gasoline, such as 91 and 93, is a practice some drivers consider to manage fuel costs while meeting their vehicle’s performance needs. Octane rating is a measure of a fuel’s ability to resist ‘knocking’ or ‘pinging’ during combustion, caused by the air/fuel mixture detonating prematurely in the engine.
4 days ago · “Crate engines do not have the compression necessary to burn the higher octane fuel efficiently.” Baldwin Racing Engines compared the performance of 110 race fuel to 91-octane pump gas. The results determined that the pump gas offered more power and torque.

Jun 20, 2024 · An octane rating, or octane number, is a standard measure of an engine or aviation gasoline capability against compression. The higher the octane number, the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating.
