Jun 7, 2024 · Numerous objective forecast aids (guidance models) are available to help the NHC Hurricane Specialists in the preparation of their official track and intensity forecasts. Guidance models are characterized as either early or late, depending on whether or not they are available to the Hurricane Specialist during the forecast cycle.
Links are given below to the historical annual NHC verification reports from 1968-2023. The statistics contained in these reports were based on forecast and verification procedures in place at the time each report was written, which often differ from current practices (e.g., depressions were not verified in these annual reports until 2001).
