4 days ago · Quiet didn't last long. After a brief spurt of activity, the tropics were quiet once again, according to the 8 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center. By 2 p.m., the quiet was over, with a new tropical wave showing up on the NHC outlook map. Several other tropical waves were mentioned by forecasters but don't appear on the outlook map.
